Influence of Nuclear Motion on Electronic Properties for Small Molecules in a Field
Dr. Richard Taïeb, Université Pierre et Marie Curie & KITP

The presentation consits of two parts. In the first one, I will analyse the effect of the stretching of an H2+ molecular ion in interaction with a strong ir laser field on the ionization/dissociation of the molecule. I will present the current numerical methods employed to treat such processes. In our study, the theory of the interaction of the H2+ molecular ion with an intense and short laser pulse is modelled by solving the time dependent Schrödinger Equation for the electronic degree of freedom while the nuclear motion is described classically. This method allows us to discuss the influence of the pulse duration on the respective weights of ionization and dissociation. I will also show the effects of the laser on the alignement of the molecular ion.

In a second part, I will address X-Ray scattering of HCl with a 1s core-hole created by a 2823eV synchrotron photon. I will show that by playing around resonant state one can influence the dynamics of the dissociative state and therefore change the X-Ray emission. I will stress the fact that, with such a system, we can determine sub-femtosecond nuclear dynamics without attosecond pulse.
