Perspectives on itinerant ferromagnetism in an atomic Fermi gas
Gareth Conduit (Ben Gurion University)

A recent experiment has provided the first putative evidence for itinerant ferromagnetism in an ultracold atomic gas of fermions with repulsive interactions. We first summarize the evidence for the ferromagnetic state before highlighting how three-body losses affect the formation of the phase. Finally, we study the evolution of a spin spiral which might provide stronger evidence for the formation of a ferromagnetic state.
