Associative Memory / Temporal Sequences
Dr. David Kleinfeld
http://www-physics.ucsd.edu/neurophysics/
In this session, we will talk about neural network models for
associative memory. We will start with the original Hopfield
model, which will be used to illustrate the main ideas of
multi-stability. The solution of the Hopfield model, based on the
techniques of statistical physics, will also be presented.
Subsequent extensions of the model, aimed at introducing more
biologically relevant features, as models for storing temporal
sequences will then be described. Finally, we will discuss the
results of memory experiments with monkeys and their
interpretations in terms of network models.
